Can you see your beauty?

My lovely friend Maureen gave me a (written) talking to after this post.
She told me to stop wasting my time and talent on producing fluff.

Although the fluff helps me to focus on the beautiful, on the sacred in the ordinary, I did get her point.
So thanks to Maureen, as a starting point, you guys will be subjected to one poem a week for the rest of this year :-).

Here is the first one. It was inspired by Steve Rother and the Group, and their wonderful Beacons of Light.

can you see your beauty, darling?
lost in time, stuck in your head, frightened and proud

but can you see your beauty?

always, always it is there

in your struggle
controlling and cowed
in your monotony
in your doubt
  in your blindness
lost in the crowd

and then:

the smile of a friend
a bird in flight
a long lost scent
a beautiful sight

your thoughts stop
you awaken

a split second
of recognition
a split second
of reunion
a split second

of Home

remembering

when you see your beauty, darling
the world will heal throughout

Lots of love,

    1. You made some decent points there. I looked on the internet for the issue and found most individuals will go along with with your website.

  2. So wonderful to see you blossoming. While I've always seen beauty in your blog, I have to say that of late you are showing talents that seem to have been locked away. A thank you to Maureen for that extra encouragement. I'm looking forward to the day I'll be able to buy the book! No, in addition to the poetry, there's got to be a store of fiction and nonfiction in there as well. That would be books that I'm looking forward to complete with your own photography.

I got your response about the photograph which I'd love to take you up on, but my response keeps coming back because of a mail quota being full. I'm not sure what that means but thought you'd want to know.

  3. Thank you so much for sharing this. It's so profound and lovely. With my attempts to get in front of the camera more, this seems very poignant for me. Thank you.

  4. When I saw the 'fluff' comment and realised I'd said it, I was afraid to read on. Then, I read that wonderful piece of poetry and I'm so glad you are sharing your gift for writing with us! Your words have touched me, inspired me and made all of us feel like we aren't alone in our times of self doubt. What a stellar way to start this new series of weekly poetry posts!

  5. Send my regards to Maureen, as well! Your poems are turning something inside me. As I started out as a "literary promise" myself and then switched to visual arts because it is much more popular among all audiences, I understand both your initial reluctance to publish and the liberating act of starting this beautiful project. Keep on writing, Jutta!

  7. Jutta, I'm so glad you will be sharing more of your poetry. I love the visual appearance of the poems you've shared so far. Your use of white space is so lovely, and allows us to breathe as we take in the poignancy of what you are so beautifully communicating. I look forward to reading and seeing more!
