Spring wreath

All the beautiful flowers I collected last week have died. But my thirst for color and beauty and spring is still there,
so I decided to find something a bit more permanent.

This little DIY comes with a warning: For once I didn't find it easy to do but rather awkward and difficult.
At least for those of us that are not blessed with a lot of patience...

It might be easier if you use hazelnut sticks or something else a bit more pliable. The sticks I had were very hard
to bend and often snapped instead of making a nice round form.

If you use brown sticks, using a green florist wire is also a much better idea than the silver one I had (again, being
too impatient to first go shopping).

Seeing how close I was several times to just throw it in the bin it actually turned out nice.

A little bit of spring in autumn :-)

There isn't much to explain. Bend your long brown sticks into a wreath and fix with the wire (or buy a ready-made wreath
and safe yourself the aggravation).
I planned to glue the flowers on, but they actually all had little wires and so I could just fix them onto the brown sticks.

It took a while to find a place for it too. After it fell off the door for the third time I decided to put it somewhere else, spoiling
the puppies fun in the process. She loved diving onto the wreath every time it came flying.

It fell off here too. My walls are made of cow dung and clay and nails do not really hold.

Final (for now) spot for it:

Wishing you a day filled with sunshine, flowers, joy and gratitude!

Love,

Ps: I am linking to these lovely parties.

  1. I love the look of this, especially since it takes on a life of its own and unlike "traditional" wreaths. I'm itchin' to bring some springtime to our home too.

  2. Jutta,
This is so soft and cheerful to look at. Definitely inspiring. I used to soak the sticks or branches for wreaths in water to make them pliable. Sometimes it worked...depended on type. I love how you have the sticks going straight out......Beautiful!
    Thoughts to you,

    1. The sticks going straight out was more of a happy accident... Thought of soaking the sticks but I was pretty sure that the color would come off, it did do so on my hands already :-)

  5. It is gorgeous!!!! Even though it was kind of a process making this beautiful wreath, you can enjoy it for weeks / months / years, once you manage to find a place where it will hold :-).

  14. Well, I'm sorry it was aggravating... but it is really, really lovely! You need to get some of those 3M sticky things that dont harm the walls. They are literally all over my house. Makes it possible to hang things is awkward spots.
