When I was younger, I thought that only old and boring people are interested in birds.
Guess what, I am there now :-).
I love watching birds, and one obliging little weaver bird is busy building a nest right outside my window. My favorite couch is the perfect spot to observe him:
If you would also like to make some, start by finding a drawing of a bird on the internet, and re-size it in Photoshop.
Then import it several times into a word document:
Print it out on T-shirt transfer paper. My printer automatically mirrors the images when I use the transfer paper setting:
Iron it onto some white fabric, following the instructions on the paper:
Roughly cut it out, also cut out some fabric as backing. Pin together with the right sides facing each other and insert a string:
Sew the two pieces plus string together, leaving an opening at the bottom:
Cut the fabric you do not need off:
Turn over, stuff, and sew the opening closed by hand:
Then hang it up and enjoy the little fellows:
Have a wonderful day!
Lots of love,

Those ornaments are beautiful, Jutta! I, too, love watching birds. -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, elegant, and quick! Great idea for gifting, too. That little weaver is gorgeous. Our little yellow beauties, gold finches, have moved south for the winter, and I so miss seeing them at the feeders.
ReplyDeleteI love it. What a beautiful ornament. So simple. I guess I've reached that age too because I am loving these birdies.
ReplyDeleteJutta, your birds are too sweet! I can't imagine the patience to print and transfer and sew and cut, but the final result is so cool - definitely worth the trouble...
ReplyDeletewhaaaaaaahahahahaha, I can totally relate to the old and boring people's interest. But that was in Europe, and most birds are dull and brown-grey. That attracts the same kind of people. In Africa I found the birds to be more colorful, and more interesting :-)......
ReplyDeleteBTW, your ornament birdies are really lovely!
Big hug, dear friend <3 <3 <3
Of course, that must be it :-). Thank you darling Esther xxx

An interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you should write more on this topic, it might not be a taboo subject but generally people are not enough to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers
